Kevin Sutherland is a junior at American University majoring in Communications, Law, Economics and Government (CLEG).

Kevin originally grew up in Trumbull, Connecticut, attended Trumbull High School and graduated in 2009. In Connecticut, he was active in local politics, attending monthly meetings of Democracy for Connecticut, and interning on 2 congressional campaigns in 2008 and 2010 for Jim Himes.

At American University, Kevin discovered a passion for design and communications work. For two years he served as Communications Director of the American University College Democrats, the largest club on campus. During his sophomore year, he also served as New Media Coordinator for the Kennedy Political Union, AU’s student-run speakers bureau and Creative Design Coordinator for the national organization, College Democrats of America.

After being elected by the student body in March 2011, Kevin currently serves as Secretary of the American University Student Government. In that position, he oversees departments of Communications and Marketing, Design, Information Technology, and Outreach.
